MISSION STATEMENT

Our mission is to obtain donated and gently used reading materials, books and Bibles, deliver them to healthcare facilities, and then pick up to recycle them when they are old.  We are helping to minister to people needing these materials and also the planet through one large effort!

MY STORY:

While waiting for hours in one of San Antonio's large and highly respected hospital's many waiting areas during a relative's surgery and follow ups, I noticed there were no reading materials on the magazine racks, except one lone, worn out last year's Thanksgiving issue of a home magazine.  People were restless and bored, children were rowdy, and pre-surgery patients were anxious and scared.  I was glad that I brought my family members waiting with me, several magazines from home to keep us busy during those trying hours. 

Knowing that I had many magazines and books at home that my friends and I had collected (and that I gave weekly to my mother for her distribution down at the homeless shelter), I realized that this was such a marvelous place to drop off magazines, books, and Bibles.  It would help pass the long hours of waiting, get people's mind off incredible worrying, calm restless children, and possibly help many grow closer to God through scripture.  Even if people only read the magazines, they would know that a Christian non-profit organization was helping them in their time of need - and, that alone would maybe spark their interest in helping others too.

And, even if I could provide many facilities with these materials, I could also help my part with the environment.  That is, instead of everyone throwing away their old magazines and books, they could be recycled into this purpose and then re-collected to be recycled in recycle containers.

So, I began contacting people who would help me collect and donate to this cause I really believe will help so many, plus our planet.  My church, Community Bible Church, immediately jumped in and offered to notify members and committees.  They have been wonderful in helping to supply the bulk of the materials and I am truly grateful to them for receptacle containers for collection AND recycling.
